CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES

From Senator Barack Obama
As a result of biomedical research the prevention, early detection and treatment of diseases such as cancer and heart disease is better today than any other time in history. Biomedical research provides the foundation for new therapies and diagnostics to combat the 21st century threats our nation faces such as bioterrorism, chronic disease, pandemic flu and obesity. The Prix Galien is a welcome initiative to stimulate creative research and promote excellence.
From Senator John McCain
Rising health costs are taking a growing toll on America’s families and businesses, making it difficult for them to afford to keep coverage while putting health insurance out of reach for millions who are uninsured. By the end of next decade health care costs will compromise one-fifth of our economy. By promoting vigorous competition, rewarding quality, encouraging prevention and encouraging research to find the next generation of cures and treatment, we can take important steps in ensuring access to affordable and quality care for all Americans. I applaud Prix Galien for recognizing the pioneering spirit of American innovation and research.
